Novak Djokovic defeated Roger Federer in the finals of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (3). This was Djokovic’s first title of 2014, & 3rd BNP Paribas Open of his career.
Federer still leads the all-time series between the two 17-16. Djokovic leaves Indian Wells with a $1 Million check & will remain #2 in the World. Federer has played splendid tennis in 2014, and will rise to #5 in the world.
On the women’s side Flavia Pennetta captured the biggest win of her career after she defeated Agnieszka Radwanska 6-2, 6-1. Radwanska tried to battle through injury, but obviously her play was not on Pennetta’s level. This was Pennetta’s 10th career victory and she will rise from 21st in the world to 12th.
